The most exciting contest on the planet heads to Brazil for the second time, the World Cup 2014 is going to the sub tropical paradise of the Amazon Rain Forests in Brazil. So far, the Brazilian national team has won this contest five times, and are the only team ever to do this. There are also going to be twelve cities where the football matches will be played, there are usually ten, but Brazil has always been special. The twelve host cities for the 2014 World Cup are listed below, for information on these other host cities, just click on its name.

The City of Recife

Chosen as one of the three cities to host the World Cup, which has not got a stadium. Once Brazil were guaranteed to host the competition, work began almost immediately on the building project, plans were already drawn up and contractors at the ready, and one this new football arena is built it will have a proposed capacityof 48.000 spectators, all seated. Recife is the fourth largest city in Brazil and is situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, this city is a major port for Brazil and is used to export sugar cane and electronics amongst other products from Brazil. Recife is the second largest in Brazil for medical care with state of the art hospitals and machinery, people from neighbouring states travel to here for extensive medical care. The translation of Recife is "reef" and was named because of the amount of reefs located near the shore. Tourism is growing fast in this wondrous city, with many new attractions and theme parks planned for the 2014 World Cup. Tourist activities include bungee jumping, scuba diving, water skiing, parachute jumping, sky diving, jungle paint balling, quad bike riding and everything you would expect from a major cosmopolitan city. Museums are abundant, with universities and historical artifacts for all to admire, if you like history. Take a day trip to the Amazon Rain Forest to explore one of the wonders of the world, or go deep sea fishing for the catch of a life time. Party 24 hours a day with bars that never seem to close, but watch out for some of the local ladies of the night, they may be men.

Visas

To enter Brazil, you will need a visa, or you will be refused entry at the border or sent back on the next available plane. You will need to check with your local embassy or travel agent, they will inform you of all the requirement for entry into Brazil from your country. You may also need to have a yellow fever inoculation, and ask your doctor if it would be wise to have a malaria one, just in case.

Poison

Somebody visiting Brazil for the World Cup will be poisoned. This is not a joke. There are many hundreds of types of venomous and poisonous animals, spider and snakes in Brazil. The Wandering Spider of Brazil accounts for nearly half the fatalities from bites, it is usually 15cm long, bigger than you hand, and they can be anywhere, a bite from these will cause nausea, muscle spasm, coma then death. Be warned, if you are bitten by anything, seek medical attention in case.

I'm going to go to Recife for the World Cup. There are some amazing beaches less than an hour away and the city has a great vibe.
