Bandit warning for holiday makers.
Bandits, robbers, thieves , what ever you wish to call them, can and do converge on the beach front towns in summer, ready for holiday makers with money to arrive. Be careful. When on the beach, most bandits know that you hide car keys, wallets, purses etc under towels and in shoes whilst you go for a swim, it only takes 4 seconds for you to be robbed. Some bandits are men, women or young children, and they work in gangs. Try and never leave your belongings unattended, at least keep them in site. Never leave anything on show in the car, some windows will be smashed just for a packet of cigarettes or loose change. One trick is to ask you a question, could be anything, like have you seen my mum,? or they speak low so you draw near to listen, their friend has already lifted your money. That's your day over, now off to the police station, call the credit card companies etc, etc, etc. Before you leave home, take a photocopy of your passport, driving license, medical cards and other important paperwork, if you lose the originals, these copies will help process everything else quicker, especially with the language barrier. Don't leave your brains at home, be careful, don't pull out lots of money in front of people, use a cash machine in the day time. Portugal is great, enjoy your stay, but like anywhere, there can be a few bad apples.
The Algarve sea
The waters are warm, the sky is blue. For boat lovers, try water skiing, banana boat riding, towing rings, parascending, jet skis, midnight romantic cruises, catamaran cruises, deep sea fishing, or hire your own boat and skipper and float away for the day. On offer is scuba diving lessons, which you can actually on your first lesson get to go out into the sea, not to deep. Grab a boat and go snorkeling to view strange new fish and reefs. Take a day trip to view alcoves and secluded beaches with use of a jet ski thrown in, all food and drinks included. Try a plane ride over the beaches, have a parachute or bungee jump, what ever you want to do, on land or sea, even in the air, you can do it on the Algarve. And for the more laziness inclined people, you could always sunbathe.
