Doctor Who is the all time hero of many generations. Dr Who and the Tardis have traveled millions of light years and saved the Earth from total annihilation several times from aliens such as the Daleks and the Cybermen. Dr. Who began in 1963 with a minimal budget. The cheap scenery, cheaper budgets and less than believable aliens are all part of Dr Who whom we all love and admire. Each generation of aspiring young minds are glued to the television screens when the series is shown.
The Tardis
Doctor Who and his female Tardis are inseparable. The Tardis ( Time And Relative Dimension In Space ) is the time travel machine which transports the Doctorand his counterparts to any time in history or the future, andwhere imaginable. The Tardis is an old 1960s police box, made of wood and glass and is surrounded by a protective force field.
The Tardis is dimensionally transcendental which means it is greatly larger on the inside than it is on the outside. Acting similar to a chameleon, the Tardis can change colour and shape to blend in the local surroundings of any planet. The chameleon circuit has been broken since a trip to London in 1963 and that is why the Tardis is stuck in the shape of the police box.
The Tardis is an obsolete type 40 Tardis, and since the destruction of the Time Lords planet of Gallifrey so there is little chance of upgrading this model. Originally the Tardis was meant to of been stolen from a museum on Gallifrey by the first Dr Who.
The Sonic Screwdriver
Dr Whos' most famous tool after the sexy Tardis, as the Doctor calls it, is the magnificent Sonic Screwdriver. This fictional tool is the future cousin of the Swiss army knife or Gerber. It does everything at the touch of a button. It can read life forms and life signs, open doors and even cook as well as bypass every security code known to man.
The Sonic Screwdriver was first introduced in 1968 but was taken out of Dr Who in 1972. But in 2005 it made a full return to the series much to happiness of millions of children. There have been many versions of the screwdriver and many have been broken or lost due to the Doctors erratic behaviour, at times. The Tardis usually generates a new one in time for the next episode or series.
The Daleks
Doctor Whos' nemesis are the laser firing, human hating, and strangely talking daleks from planet Skaro. The fictional Daleks were created after a thousand year was by the scientist Davros, and are genetically modified mutants with a metal exoskeletal frame. The dalek nation shows no mercy, remorse, or any kind of feeling other than the destruction of every other life form in the universe.
The Daleks first appeared in 1963 and instantly became the Doctors most feared enemy, yet loved by audiences worldwide. The Daleks have appeared in two movies and many series with different Doctors. The main catchphrase of the Dalek is 'exterminate'.
A Dalek has appeared on a British postage stamp of which the photo taken was by Lord Snowdon. The formidable Dalek was voted the most menacing monster of all time and in 2008 a survey indicated that 9 out of 10 children could identify a Dalek. Similar surveys revealed the same but the children could not identify world leaders, countries, or some household items. Cheap Doctor Who toys keep children amused for hours.
The Weeping Angels
The Weeping Angels had many children hiding behind their cushions. These scary creatures only move when nobody is looking at them. Blink, and the Weeping Angel statue has moved, blink twice and the actor is normally found dead. Adults have been known to never outgrow some of their childhood figures, the Weeping Angels soon brought them back.
