Here are some of the worst types of insects, snakes and spiders that you may meet in Florida, which you may need to avoid. Some spiders in Florida are venomous, none are poisonous, but some snakes in Florida are.
Alligators
Though these cute little animals may not sting or be poisonous, but they do have a nasty nip, and can possibly take off a leg or an arm. Don't panic, there are not many alligator attacks in Florida. But you will occasionally find them in your swimming pool and by the beach, yes, the alligators in Florida are saltwater alligators, My advice if you come across one of these is to run, call the relevant authorities and they will come and remove it. Do not try and feed it, as you may end up on the menu.
Venomous Snakes Florida
In the land of sunshine, Florida, there are approximately 50 different kinds of snakes slithering all over the country, but snake bites are very seldom, believe it or not, they really are more scared of us than we are of them. There are only six types of venomous snakes in Florida, there is the coral snake, black and yellow, with a tongue to make Julio Iglesias jealous, the Florida Cotton Mouth venomous snake, the copperhead, which has a copper coloured head which stand to reason, then, one of the worlds most famous families of snakes, the rattle snakes, but there are three types of venomous rattle snakes in Florida, the Pigmy Rattler, the Eastern Diamond Back rattler and the Timber Rattlesnake. No matter what snake you come across, best thing to do is leave it alone, unless it is in your bedroom, then I suggest you run away and call in the experts. In Florida venomous snake bites are easily cured in a hospital or medical centre, but if you are not near one, do not attempt to suck out the poison, it could actually make it worse, take anti-histamines, apply cool compress, and seek medical help as soon as possible. Venomous snakes in Florida, the poison can spread through your body, get help.
Spiders of Florida
The spiders in Florida are a healthy number, there are approximately 2 venomous spiders in Florida, not that many really considering the climate. The black Widow family of venomous spiders live in Florida, namely the Southern Black Widow, the Red Widow and the Brown Widow spiders. These all give a nasty little nip and the best thing to do if bitten is take an anti-histamine tablet and go to a medical centre, some bites can cause a limb to swell to three times the normal size as the venom spreads. The other main spiders in Florida are the Brown Recluse Spiders, although not really established in Florida, this venomous spider has bitten quite a few tourists, but again, no fatalities. If bitten by a venomous spider, or by any spider, try and capture it, either in a jar or even on the bottom of your shoe, take it to the hospital to show the doctors so you can get the right serum if required.
Stinging Insects in Florida
There are many of these in every country and Florida is about the same, they have mosquitoes, bees, wasps, hornets, fire ants, biting flies, deer flies, horse flies, the list goes on and on. Yes, most of these insects can carry diseases, but the body's immune system usually fights it off. If you are stung by a wasp or bee, the area will swell and become reddish, which is normal, if other marks begin appearing within 20cm of the initial sting, and it should only take a couple of minutes, then rush straight to a hospital, there is an allergic reaction to the sting and the venomis being carried around the body and could be fatal, do not stop for anything, time is important. If you, a child or some one you are with gets stung by a bee or wasp, watch closely for five minutes, if there are no other marks other than the initial sting, then okay, add a cool or cold compress of some kind.

Thanks for writing this. You are right about the wasps being deadly if they swarm and attack all at once. Yellowjackets are bad about that.
