Pleaural is the most common form of mesothelioma attacking the lung, about 70/80% of all cases reported is this type. Peritoneal is the disese which attacks the heart and accounts for 10/15% of all cases and Pericardial is the name given to the one that attacks the heart.
Each person may have different symptons depending on where the cancer cells are located. If you have been affected in the lungs you might become anemic, start wheezing, have chest pains, fluid on the lungs or bloody spit/bile. If you have been infected in the stomach, you may have swelling, bowel problems, weight loss, and a more than average build up of fluid in the stomach.
Is there a cure for mesothelioma?
No there is no cure yet, although scientists are working on one. Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and surgery are the only treatment to slow dowm the effects of mesothelioma.
